The Health, Welfare and Institutions Committee reported Virginia HB1969 out of committee favorably, on a vote of 19-1. It now moves to the House floor calendar for consideration.
Only Delegate Mark Sickles (D-Franconia) voted against the bill in committee, and members of the Coalition have reached out to him to determine why he voted no and to address any concerns. The bill now goes to the full House of Delegates for a potential vote of its 100 members. The bill must pass and crossover to the Senate no later than February 7, 2023. After that, all eyes will be on the Senate, which is Democratic-controlled, to move the bill toward final passage.
